Morriston A Move into Second Spot and Emperors Get Their First Win of the Season

25/11/18

And in Division 2 White Knights D bounce back with a win over Giants while Merlins win their third match in a row.

In Division 1 Morriston A moved up into second in the table with a 3½-1½ win at home to White Knights B. They are now just 2 points behind White Knights A who they meet for the second time this season on this forthcoming Wednesday (28th November).   Morriston will need to win if they hope to challenge the Knights for the title.

Also in Division 1 Emperors notched up their first win of the season with a well earned 3-2 victory over White Knights C.  At the present time only two points separate the six teams at the bottom of the table with all of them having played 5 matches.  A lot still to play for.

Merlins, in Division 2, increased their winning streak to 3 with an impressive 4-1 win over De la Beche University.  They won on the bottom 3 boards but had to settle for draws on the top 2.

White Knights D made the trip to Briton Ferry to face the Giants and were no doubt looking to bounce back from their defeat to De la Beche A.  Bounce back they did with a resounding 3½-1½ win.  Only a win by Lyndon Todd for the Giants and a draw on board 2 kept the score from looking too one sided.

Over in Division 3 Morriston E kept up the pressure on the top teams with a 3½-1½ win over leaders De la Beche C.  It was the De la Beche team’s first defeat in 5 matches and boosts Morriston E to within 2 points of the two De la Beche teams that are currently dominating the Division.

After 3 defeats in a row Upper Killay Harriers got back into the swing of things with a narrow 3-2 victory over Morriston F.  It means that they stay third from the top just the 1 point behind the leaders.  They were joined on this point total by the Tribunes who could only manage a draw against second from bottom Morriston G.  A well earned point for the Morriston juniors.    The De la Beche B v St Michael’s match was postponed so De la Beche B will have to wait until their next match for a chance to overtake their B team club mates.   Opponents Morriston E are, however, unlikely to make it easy for them.
