West Wales Weekend Chess Congress

52nd West Wales Congress

Mercure Hotel, Llansamlet, Swansea. 11th-13th October 2019.

Good news!  It was up in the air for a time but some diligent negotiation by Les Philpin has meant that the West Wales Weekend Chess Congress will once again be taking place at the Mercure Hotel in Llansamlet.
This is the 52nd time the congress will have been run and you would soon run out of fingers and toes if you tried to count the number of times Les has organised it.

This year it is taking place over the weekend of 11th - 13th October 2019 and as usual there are three sections:

OPEN:   FIDE RATED  - Entry Fee £27
Open to any FIDE registered member of the Welsh Chess Union or other National Body.

MAJOR SECTION  -  Entry Fee £25
All players in the Major Event must be registered with the Welsh Chess Union or their respective national body and be rated at Under 1850 on the WCU scale.

All players in the Minor Section must be rated at Under 1500.

Ungraded players must consult the congress secretary before entering the Major or Minor section.
(The conversion formula from ECF to WCU is ECF x 8 + 630)

Full details of prizes, time controls, etc. are on the entry form which can be downloaded at https://wwcl.leaguerepublic.com/l/documents/727169583.html
Les Philpin is standing by to take your entry and he can be contacted at  newsilure@hotmail.com  or on
